I am in total disbelief that so many people who call themselves “Public Servants” are completely unwilling to give any of President Trump’s ideas a chance to succeed or fail on each one’s individual “merit.” It appears that many of the “left progressives” are holding steadfastly to their concept of a perfect, Utopian and unattainable America (like DEI). It seems beyond ignorant with the only chance for “perfection” being the perfectly idiotic explanation about how they think life actually works. As an Academic, I know all about aiming highly towards perfection in the ‘classroom,’ but the practitioner in me also understands the need to make things work well pragmatically withing the constraints/limitations of the “real” world.
It is said that on Wall Street, the two worst attitudes to have are “fear” and “greed.” I am convinced that those two emotions are also plaguing many Legislators in D.C. as well, thereby paralyzing their ability to ‘maximize’ the Return On Investment for the citizens who elected them. They are “fearful” of two things: 1.) Trump might be RIGHT and 2.) any new Policy/Executive Order might be “catastrophic” when in fact, could be easily/quickly corrected if need be. Elon Musk has said EXACTLY that. I was at a company that once ‘slashed’ jobs much like DOGE is recommending at the Department of Education, for example. My firm RE-hired those ‘terminated’ people who were needed as “consultants.” This was not perfectly ideal, but it was not the end-of-the-world either. This was/is a normal/typical type of “course correction” that happens all the time in the real world of business. NOT perfect, just “good.”
The other OVER-reaction is greed. Since mostly all of the Washington politicians are financially well-to-do, we are not so much talking about monetary greed here, (although the total wealth of most “lifelong” politicians belies the total of their salary earnings), but greed of POWER. Much like toddlers, (having “temper Tantrums”), they have to have their own ‘way’ about almost everything. It is like their respective “ID’s” have kidnapped their “EGO’s” and have sent ransom notes to their “SUPER EGO’s.” To paraphrase John Lennon, let’s just give “GOOD” a chance!
To me, it appears that the United States has a myriad of actual ‘problems’ both domestically and internationally. I have been trained to the Doctoral-level to be able to see/understand all sides of an ‘issue’ (and divorce my own opinion from each ‘position’). Try as I might, In cannot comprehend in 2025 the idea of America “defending” the concepts of: foreign wars; deaths from illegal drugs; the illegal immigration of known felons; a $40 trillion debt; underperforming child education; unfair trade practices; rampant homelessness; untreated illnesses; valuing money over health; unchecked crime and any waste/fraud/abuse of taxpayer money. What is even worse, however, is “insanely” wanting to ONLY do the “same” things while expected “different” results. I guess that is Donald Trump’s big sin/crime, is wanting to try something new/different for ‘better’ results.
America has always been “entrepreneurial”- giving anyone a chance to succeed or fail by allowing entrepreneurs to face/accept its idea’s “consequences.” That has been the main “secret to our success” and distinguished us from a lot of less ‘courageous’ nations. I do not seem to recall a response of “sour grapes’ from competitors, just more resolve to “raise the bar.” There is an incredibly famous expression in the world of Entrepreneurship (I think coined by the firm, IDEO: “Fail Often in Order to Succeed Sooner!”
Since President Biden was given HIS four years and the Democrats lost the 2024 election “fair & square,” why is there such resistance (bordering upon sabotage) to give President Trump HIS own four years? Is there such a fear of being “wrong” about the concept of “perfection,” that the Trump ‘haters’ would cut off the American “nose” to spite our collective “face?” This motivation seems more like a “spoiled brat” reaction than a loving, patriotic, ‘parental’ response. Why does it have to take a “9/11” in order to unify politicians/citizens to work together for the ‘common good?” It just looks petulant to me!
