The Title of this Episode is: “The Projection Project”
Even though I should be over-“Joy”-ed with the election outcomes, I can’t help but feeling like I do during one of Rod Serling’s television episodes…dazed and confused! I just cannot believe that 70 million of my fellow American ‘citizens’ experienced the same campaigns as I did AND voted for the agenda of Kamala Harris’ Democratic party. It is totally surreal sensation for me.
As someone who is professionally compensated to comprehend issues for which I do not concur and who must be receptive to new and different ideas for objective consideration, I cannot understand such an equivocal split between one tangible philosophy and another amorphous ideology.
I actually would be and have been more comfortable being on either side of a 75%-25% distribution. In a minority position, my contrarian nature is satisfied being an ‘underdog’ fighting for principles that seem noble and pure. In the majority position, I can take solace in knowing that there is strength in numbers. This 50%-50% split just feels plain ‘eerie’ like the “Twilight Zone.”
In sports, it is thought that a “tie” is like “kissing your sister.” In politics this veritable ‘tie’ seems more like ‘sexing’ your sister! In past elections, there were cogent arguments on both sides that enabled all of us to “agree to disagree” with respect and acknowledgement. In this 2024 election, however, this ‘episode’ seemed plain bizarre (no matter how good looking one’s sister is).
For example, Joe Biden a “Mount Rushmore”-caliber president (according to ‘insider trading’ Nancy Pelosi) and then forced out? Are you kidding me? More like Mount SLOWLESS! Barack Obama, THE democratic puppet master? Kamala Harris, devoid of any nomination process, a worthy candidate? Hunter Biden laptop? Russian collusion (51 security clearance signees?), 81 million voters in 2020? “Big Guy” ‘brand’ foreign payments? This stuff should only happen on a CBS soundstage and yet, so many people ‘bought’ this unadulterated bullshit?
As a self-identified “pseudo’ psychologist, the ‘diagnosis’ that I have determined to explain this ‘condition’ of the last 4 years is: PROJECTION. There has been more projection by the progressives than a Kodak Slide Carousel. It seemed like everything that the left (mainly through legacy media ‘hit’ outlets) accused Donald Trump and his followers of doing/being was EXACTLY what they were guilty of themselves. I think that is called “projection” in psychological terms. Although I can only guess at the ‘unhinged’ root causes of their affliction?
I cannot even begin to imagine how 70 million contemporary Americans were willing to ignore such blatant and provable “lies” which were continually served up on a silver media platter. Here’s a possibility? Jean Piaget in his “Stages” of Human Development theorized that, unless it is one’s own area of interest/specialization, one operates at a “concrete” (literal-like 8th grade) level. Exactly the level that most advertising commercials utilize. Therefore, we depend and expect those in ‘charge” to ‘feed’ us the “truth” in those other areas of life and NOT exploit us. The democratic ‘machine’ must use concrete operations to ‘sell’ their story much like “snake oil” does and many of us are only too willing to buy it.
It is not the ‘Trump-eteers’ who are the “fascists” trying to undercut “democracy” with dictatorial tyranny but rather the Dumb-o-crats who were running an unvetted/unqualified candidate after ‘hijacking’ the person that legitimately received 14 million Americans votes. Projection!
It is not the Conservatives who try to suppress free speech but the progressives who weaponize and politicize governmental agencies to attack opponents. Also, co-opting the mainstream media to slant/shade only ONE side of every story and threatening/censoring any social media organization which would not go along with their ‘narrative.’ Projection!
It is not the Republicans who are “racist;” “sexist;” “ethno-phobic;” “transphobic; “homophobic;” “Islam-o-phobic;” “misogynistic;” “relig-o-phobic;” etc. It is rather the Dem-o-craps who continuously treat people as ‘classifications’ (while totally ignoring such ‘categories’ as the “salt-o-the-earth” working ‘stiffs’) instead of treating everyone as “individuals.” Projection!
Donald J. Trump and his followers are not without prejudice but not on race, religion, ethnicity, age, or sexual orientation/identification. We are totally “bigoted,” however, if you are: ignorant; foolish; lazy; disloyal; untrustworthy; OR unpatriotic. AND, if you think it is moral to kill viable human babies; if you think it is fair for biological males to compete in sports with biological females; OR if you think immigration should be available to criminals, fentanyl smugglers and human traffickers through ‘open’ borders.
The real problem is that 50 million of those 70 million voters were either too gullible, too naiver or dare I say, too damn stupid to think for themselves. I’m sure that the other 20 million are thoughtful and intelligent people who just have a different view/objective/vision for what they believe is actually best for the United State of America in the future. I just think they are misguided as to the realities of life, human nature and the world at large.
They actually may be thinking “too big” by which their dreams for the “perfect” gets squarely in the way of the real, do-able “good.” I think they also have too little faith in earthly human beings to always and timely solve problems as they become ‘actual’problems and not just someone’s paranoid imagination. Are you listening John Kerry and Al Gore? We always need dissenting and different points of view to make America better and better BUT you need to be able to make your arguments logically and not just go along for some irrational and delusional ‘ride.’
I think the next great stereotype is political party. One can no longer superficially sum up people by ‘elephants’ or ‘donkeys’ any more than by one’s shade of skin color. Those ‘strokes’ were much too shallow and broad for today’s electorate and THAT was the Harris campaign’s Achilles’ heel. They boxed up their demographics in neat little packages and wrapped them with little blue Demo-bows with names ‘tags’ that were nothing more than easy-to-see-through projections…AND they lost!
